The Gujarat High Court has slammed the state's health authorities regarding its carelessness leading to rising Covid-19 cases
Gujarat's Covid-19 cases have escalated within weeks. The State is expeditiously emerging as one of the most lethal hotspots of Coronavirus. 436 new Corona cases were found as of June 1st. Gujarat government has setup a committee to analyse the reasons for the high mortality rate in the state. With an average of 26 deaths a day in May, the toll has mounted to 986 with Ahmedabad accounting for 80% of it. However, experts find this is due to less number of testing causing slow treatment procedure further leading to a high number of deaths in the state. While the cases are set to touch the perilous stage, the state authorities are being questioned about the situation and the state's plan to save the lives. The state's High Court in its interim order has rebuked Health Minister Nitin Patel and Health Secretary Jayanti Ravi for the negligence and the rising number of deaths in the hospital. With a push from the judiciary, the number of tests has increased in the state leading to a proliferation of coronavirus cases. Gujarat is spotted as one of the most affected states as the virus is unfurling briskly in the state. Unlike other states, since few days every corner of the state was either Red or Orange zone. However, this major spike has resulted in a plunge in economic activity and tourism in the state.
