Gujarat’s witnesses steady rise in Covid-19 cases in May
Gujarat’s pattern on the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases has been quite unique throughout May. The curve of daily cases for the state has been constant, although the rate of the daily tests remains low. Being the third state with the highest number of Covid-19 infection, Gujarat has yet not managed to keep up with the tests across the state. The daily cases in the state revolve around 320-440. However, the daily test reports have been drastically low in comparison with other states of the country. Gujarat was showing a high level of test range until May 7, but after a reported blockage on May 16, the state witnessed its highest single-day spike. Along with Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat has regulated lower tests in contrast with other states with a high caseload, such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Earlier a lot of unnecessary testing in private laboratories across the state was suspected. Further, concerning this matter, the state government denied access to private laboratories for testing of Covid-19 infections. The state authorities declared that there are enough government centres and labs available for testing of the virus. Also, these private labs were charging a fortune for conducting tests. The government facilities are carrying out these tests free of cost.
