How is Rajasthan coping with the increase in Covid-19 cases?
With the first fresh case of coronavirus being reported on 2 March 2020 in Jaipur Rajasthan, the tally breaches 9,100 mark on June 2 after reporting 269 fresh COVID-19 cases. So far, 6213 patients have recovered from the pandemic', the officials said. As per the statement by the Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma, the State's rate of recovery stands at 67.26% whereas the death rate at present stands at 2.2%. Till May 12, the rate of recovery was at 59.4% but post-May 24, the figures touched 62.6%. Compared to the earlier statistics, the recovery rate is at an all-time high in Rajasthan. At present, there are 2,685 active cases according to the State Health Department. According to the figures, the state has conducted the highest number of tests to handle the current situation. The districts have been divided into red, orange, and green zones for close monitoring of COVID-19 cases. The combination of anti-malaria, anti-swine flu and anti-HIV drugs have proved to be beneficial in the treatment of coronavirus patients. For the treatment of severely ill patients, the Government of Rajasthan took permission from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) for the clinical trials of the convalescent plasma therapy thereby, showing better results. The Bhilwara district became the hotspot in the state but managed to cope up with the Covid-19 pandemic by abiding by the precautionary measures. The District Magistrate followed a containment model including the sealing of district borders, door to door screening, aggressive testing, quarantine suspected people and following social distancing norms. Within 10 days, the cases came to zero and the efforts were accoladed by everyone. In the meantime, the State has eased the restrictions which were imposed since March 25 and is looking to implement unlock 1.0 from June 8. Jaipur remains to be the worst affected city with 22% of the state confirmed cases and only 23 containment zones.
