The city of dreams becomes the biggest red zone in India. 2,940 new cases registered crossing the 65,000 mark for Covid-19 cases in Mumbai
The heart of Maharashtra, Mumbai records the highest rise in coronavirus cases. With 2,940 fresh cases until June 1, 8 am, the city of dreams reaches 65,168 total number of Covid-19 cases. The death toll in the city exceeds 99 deaths in the last 24 hours, making 2,197 total fatalities in the state. Police constables working during lockdown are also at a higher risk. There are 2,416 Covid-19 cases in the state with 26 total deaths of police officers. On the bright side, recovered cases increased with a higher rate than before. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC ) revealed that 6,643 coronavirus patients had already been discharged from the hospital over the past few weeks. Along with this, testing for Covid-19 is carried out on a large stage in the state to ensure all safety measures. More than 1,90,000 tests have been conducted in the state till now. Also, the revised guidelines for the extended lockdown period ensures strict social distancing norms. All movements except essentials are prohibited from 9 am till 5 pm.
